Took these driving from the car...hope you enjoy....there is nothing like a Big Island sky, so diverse, given the landscape and so many kinds of clouds.

This photo was taken from the ocean side of the Ala Wai Canal on Oct. 19, 2025, at 4:45 p.m. I found it striking because the rainbow's perfect emergence from the cloud line beautifully illustrates atmospheric moisture in action.

This was taken in December 2020 on a hike during the pandemic. Social distancing at its best. Double rainbow over the city.

A bright azure sky and an even brighter rainbow streched out over Honolulu were recently spotted from high up Azure Ala Moana.

Just before sunset, the sky looked especially nice through the trees lining Mililani’s main streets.

Mauna Kea is so glorious in all its heights. Literally on top of the world. Hawaiʻi skies have it all!

I liked the purple and orange colors, with the small clouds in the foreground giving it a feeling of depth. It made me feel energetic and hopeful for the beginning of a new day. I think this photo is special because of its color and complexity.

I just thought the combination of city and nature was an interesting photo.

Just loved the colors in the sky that morning, felt really peaceful looking at them. Special because it was right over the ocean here. The Golden Rays just really make me feel like I live in Heaven here on Earth.

God provides us a nightly sky show that never disappoints.

I liked this photo, wispy clouds, because it looked like jellyfish floating in the sky. It made me feel like flying. The photo was special because I had never seen clouds like that before.

I liked this photo, red sky sunrise, because it looked like the whole sky was on fire, it made me feel in awe, it was special because you don't often see so much red and orange color completely covering the sky.

The clouds were so vibrant that I stopped in my tracks and snapped a ridiculous amount of photos of them. I also loved the silhouetted palm trees. I felt grateful to live in a place where you get to experience lovely views like that on a regular basis.

Just in the right place right time

We are so blessed to live in Hawaiʻi and sometimes we just need to take time to enjoy it. When asked what restaurant I want to go to celebrate Mother’s Day, I responded with a simple picnic at the beach watching the sunset. It was so beautiful and relaxing!

Here's a picture I took on my way to Hāna on Maui. This was taken in October 2025 as I drove the narrow, curvy highway that was a thrill a minute. I hope you can use this picture, as it's one of my favorite memories from that visit.

Kukuiolono Park always has amazing sunrises and each time of year has its own unique quality. This picture was exceptional and one that I have not experienced in my 10 years living on Kauaʻi.

This rainbow photo comes after we weathered the three major storms and the lighting of it, in between stormy and sunny, gave a feeling of transition from foreboding to brightening. A release of tension and hope for the future. The rainbow is representative of everything beautiful about Hawaiʻi.

I loved the way the shadows against the mountain changed by the minute.

I took this picture from my son's home in Makakilo on Feb. 4. I love it because of the colors and because my granddaughter and I watched sunrises together before she went to school. I live in North Carolina and come to Oʻahu two or three times a year — I love being in Hawaiʻi!

My wife and I stayed at a friend’s house in Kailua, and was presented with this God-created ski from their backyard; after a WOW and AHHHH of appreciation, I was thankful for another glorious Kailua evening.

Full moon on April 1. Aloha State Daily had an article this week about the Pink Moon. Here it is, last night from Paukaʻa on the Hilo side of Big Island.
